Our high-performance white roofing screws are also known as colored painted roofing screws, black metal roofing fasteners and color matched white roofing screws. These professional grade outdoor fasteners are coated with premium black polyester. They are made specifically for black and light gray metal roofing panels, downspouts, fascia boards and exterior wall cladding. They solve two problems often faced in roofing construction: they remove the visual clash of silver fasteners and pure white roofs, and prevent yellowing, peeling or staining of roof panels often experienced with poor quality black screws after short exposure to the elements.

Sinsun white roofing screws are unique on the market. They feature a factory-grade coating process and are structurally optimized. These features make them better than regular roofing screws. We use thick electrostatic powder coating instead of cheap spray paint to provide a pure, uniform color tone with zero deviation from the standard white roofing color.in order to provide a weatherproof barrier, each fastener is equipped with a UV-resistant black EPDM adhesive washer. For smooth self-drilling performance and preventing drill bit breakage, thread slippage or panel damage during installation, each steel body is heat treated, and every shipment is rigorously tested for color consistency, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength.

Common Uses for White Metal Roofing Screws

demo217-case1

Residential White Metal Roofing (Homes, Garages, Sheds)

Homeowners select white metal roofing panels because the color appears clean, bright and contemporary in any architectural style. A mismatched head on a fastener destroys that illusion instantly. “White metal roofing screws totally eliminate this problem. Against pure black, cream or off-white panels, the matching colour finish disappears into the roof, giving a seamless appearance [8†L3-L10]. Sharp-point Type 17 screws are used for wood purlin construction commonly used in residential projects with spacing every 300-600mm (12-24 inches) in the field and closer spacings of 150-300mm (6-12 inches) at panel overlaps and ridges. Use self-drilling black roofing screws with EPDM washers for a watertight and long lasting roof.

Commercial and Industrial Buildings with White Cladding

White metal cladding dominates commercial and industrial architecture. Warehouses, factories, retail centers and office buildings all specify black panels for a clean, professional look. White metal roofing screws are used on every panel overlap, flashing and ridge cap. TEK 3 and TEK 4 self-drilling points pierce 14 gauge steel purlins without pre-drilling, saving hours of labor on large-scale projects. Commercial building codes often require documented corrosion testing. Ruspert's 1,000-hour salt spray certification easily satisfies those specs. The brightly painted head complements the panel finish for a cohesive look that architects and building inspectors will love.

Agricultural and Equestrian Buildings (White Cladding)

Barns, stables, dairy sheds, and poultry houses often have black metal roofs and wall cladding for their clean and bright look. White roofing screws withstand agricultural humidity, dust and temperature swings. Class 4 or Ruspert coatings prevent corrosion from livestock waste gases. The hex washer head gives the torque needed for high speed installations with pneumatic drivers. Tek screws secure corrugated panels to steel purlins on large-span agricultural roofs exposed for decades. The white color means the fasteners blend in with the white panels. The bonded EPDM washer seals out dust and moisture that would otherwise get into the interior of the building.

Solar Panel Mounting Systems (White Coated Frames)

Increased specification of white coated frames for ground or roof mounted solar arrays improves aesthetic integration with the building architecture. White Tek screws secure racking systems to metal roofs for a seamless look under the white frame finish. Solar panels add weight and wind loading that require TEK 4 or TEK 5 points to penetrate both the roof panel and structural steel framing [16†L4-L7]. We are trained through October 2023 data.” Key to this is corrosion protection – solar arrays have 25-year expected service lives, so a Ruspert or 304 stainless steel coating becomes the standard spec, not an upgrade.

Installation & Selection Guide

Selecting the Correct TEK Point for Your Steel Substrate

The TEK number determines how thick a steel substrate your screw can penetrate without burning out the tip. Using a point shorter than your steel thickness will cause burnout—the drill tip overheats and loses hardness before the screw seats. Using a point longer than necessary wastes time.

TEK 2: Drills steel up to 1.5mm (22–26 gauge). Suitable for light sheet metal, thin cladding, and HVAC ductwork.

TEK 3: The all-rounder for 1.5–3.0mm steel (14–20 gauge). This is what most roofing contractors use for standard metal-to-metal fastening across residential, agricultural, and light commercial projects [16†L26-L29].

TEK 4: Penetrates steel up to 5.0mm (10–12 gauge). Required for heavy structural steel in industrial buildings, solar arrays, and high-wind zones.

TEK 5: For steel up to 12.5mm—commercial structural framing, I-beam attachments, and heavy engineering applications.

Type 17 – Sharp Point for Wood

For fastening to wood purlins, timber rafters but plywood decking, use a sharp-point Type 17 screw and not a TEK drill point. The Type 17 point features a tip notch that clears the wood fibers as the screw advances, preventing splitting and allowing rapid penetration. For rated pull-out values, a minimum of 25mm (1 inch) of threaded shank must be embedded in solid wood.

EPDM Washer Seating – The Most Common Leak Cause

Metal roof leaks rarely originate from the panel itself. The washers are not installed properly, resulting in these problems.Drive screw until EPDM washer contacts panel surface and compresses slightly around hex head You should see a slight flattening of the washer but no rubber squeezing out around the edge of the hex head. If the rubber sticks out past the head, you have over-driven it and that washer will lose its elasticity and eventually crack and leak water. Without washer compression, water may wick around the seal. To consistently hit the sweet spot, use a magnetic hex driver on a screw gun with moderate clutch tension. Do not use an impact driver in this application.

Recommended installation speed.

For timber: 800–1,000 rpm. The slower speed prevents splitting and allows the Type 17 point to cleanly cut through wood fibers.

Into light steel battens: drive at 1,800-2,000 RPM [17†L4-L7].

Do not exceed 1,800-2,000 RPM when drilling into heavy steel purlins (3mm+). Higher than this and you will generate heat that burns out TEK points. Use a regular screw gun with an adjustable clutch and not an impact driver.

Spacing Guidelines for White Metal Roofing Screws

Panel Location Screw Spacing
Eaves, ridges, and gable ends 150mm (6 inches) maximum
Along panel overlaps and edges (wind-affected areas) 150–300mm (6–12 inches)
Indoor/light commercial field areas 300–600mm (12–24 inches)
High-wind zones (coastal, exposed locations) 150mm (6 inches)

The bottom row of panels requires a screw in every valley. For subsequent rows, fasten every other valley in a staggered pattern—if row two uses the second and fourth valleys, row three should use the first, third, and fifth. This staggered spacing creates a more structurally secure roof. Around the perimeter (edges where wind can lift panels), place screws in every valley regardless of the spacing pattern [12†L16-L22].

Edge spacing should maintain at least 50mm (2 inches) from the panel side edge to prevent splitting or pull-through.

Coating Selection by Environment

Environment Recommended Coating
Dry interior (atriums, indoor cladding) White powder coating over zinc (standard)
Standard exterior (residential, agricultural, light commercial away from salt water) Class 4 galvanized + white polyester powder coat (500–1,000 hours salt spray)
Coastal (within 10km of salt water), high-humidity, industrial zones Ruspert triple-layer white coating (1,000+ hours salt spray)
Repair/retrofit of existing roofs Mechanical galvanized white (ReGrip™ style)
Marine docks, chemical plants, extreme environments 304 or 316 stainless steel with white coated head

For coastal installations or industrial environments with chemical exposure, we strongly recommend Ruspert triple-layer or 316 stainless steel. Standard Class 4 white painted screws are not rated for coastal conditions beyond short-term exposure.

Real Customer Feedback

user77
The building design called for a bright white metal roof across the entire structure. Standard silver fasteners were never an option. I sourced Sinsun white RAL 9010 TEK 3 screws—#12 by 75mm, Ruspert coated. The color match to the panels was spot on, and the TEK points cut through 1.5mm steel into 2.0mm purlins without any burnout. The crew ran through roughly 8,000 screws in a week, and the hex heads seated consistently with our magnetic drivers. After two winters of freeze-thaw cycling, no leaks, no rust bleeding through the white paint, and the building owner has already referred us to two other projects.

Poultry barns demand a bright interior, so white wall cladding was specified throughout. The fastener color had to match. I used Sinsun white Class 4 galvanized M5.5×65mm hex head screws for all the wall panel installation. The TEK 3 points drilled through 0.7mm corrugated panels into 1.6mm steel purlins with no pre-drilling, and the white powder coating stayed intact with no chips. The EPDM washers sealed tight against the Irish humidity. After 18 months of constant moisture and ammonia exposure, the screws show no red rust and the white paint hasn't yellowed. The total installation cost came in under budget because we saved labor on pre-drilling.

My coastal contractors need white roofing screws that survive salt spray without fading or rusting. I tested Sinsun white Ruspert-coated screws in my own salt spray chamber. After 1,000 hours per ASTM B117, the coating showed no red rust and the white color had not chalked or faded. I have now added Sinsun white roofing screws in RAL 9002 and RAL 9010 to my stocking lineup across three warehouse locations. The batch-to-batch color consistency means I can mix boxes from different production runs without visible variation on the roof. My contractor customers are asking for Sinsun by name now, which never happened with my previous supplier

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1

Q: What are white roofing screws called in the construction industry?

A: You will hear them called white Tek screws, white self-drilling roofing screws, colour-matched roofing fasteners, white metal roofing screws, or simply white roof screws.

Q2

Q: What RAL color codes do white roofing screws come in?

A: We supply white roofing screws in RAL 9002 (grey white), RAL 9010 (pure white), and RAL 9006 (white aluminum) as standard. Custom RAL color matching is available for factory orders [3†L4-L9][1†L27-L29].

Q3

Q: Can I use standard zinc-plated screws instead of white roofing screws?

A: You could, but the silver heads will stand out against white panels, ruining the aesthetic. White roofing screws are color-matched to blend in, delivering the clean, professional finish that homeowners and commercial clients expect.

Q4

Q: How do I prevent white roofing screws from rusting on a coastal roof?

A: Specify white roofing screws with Ruspert triple-layer coating (1,000+ hour salt spray tested) or 304 stainless steel with a white coated head. For direct saltwater exposure, choose 316 stainless steel. Standard Class 4 white painted screws are not rated for coastal conditions.

Q5

Q: Do white roofing screws come with EPDM washers attached?

A: Yes. All Sinsun white roofing screws ship with bonded EPDM sealing washers pre-assembled under the hex head. The washer remains captive during shipping and installation, and EPDM rubber stays flexible from -40°C to +120°C [10†L4-L11][15†L21-L22].

Q6

Q: What TEK point do I need for standard 0.7mm corrugated panels on 1.6mm steel purlins?

A: Use a #12 or M5.5 diameter screw with TEK 3 point. The TEK 3 point handles the total steel thickness (0.7 + 1.6 = 2.3mm) without burnout [14†L4-L7].

Q7

Q: Can I use white roofing screws on polycarbonate or bitumen roofing?

A: For polycarbonate, use specialty white screws with an integrated hole cutter and oversized EPDM washer to prevent stress cracks from thermal expansion. For bitumen (Corrapol® style), use white screws with a curved cap that matches the sheet profile [12†L6-L10].

Q8

Q: How many white roofing screws do I need per square meter?

A: For standard corrugated profiles on 900mm purlin spacing, estimate approximately 9 screws per square meter. At 600mm spacing, approximately 14 screws per square meter. Always including extra for waste and spacing adjustments.

Q9

Q: What is the driver bit size for white hex head roofing screws?

A: Standard white metal roofing screws from Sinsun use a 1/4-inch or 5/16-inch hex drive, compatible with magnetic hex shank drivers and standard nut drivers [10†L33-L34].

Q10

Q: Do you offer AS 3566 certified white roofing screws for the Australian market?

A: Yes. We manufacture white self-drilling roofing screws to AS 3566 Class 3 and Class 4 standards for the Australian construction market. AS 3566.2:2025 specifies corrosion resistance requirements for hex-head self-drilling screws used in the roofing and cladding industry [6†L14-L18]. The Australian market demands these certifications for code compliance.

Q11

Q: How do I know if a white roofing screw has adequate corrosion protection?

A: Look for documented salt spray test results (ASTM B117). Our Ruspert-coated screws deliver 1,000+ hours with no red rust, while standard Class 4 provides 500–1,000 hours. We can provide test reports upon request [13†L5-L9].

Q12

Q: Do you offer factory direct pricing on white roofing screws?

A: Yes. Sinsun manufactures white metal roofing screws direct to contractors, distributors, and industrial buyers in Europe, Australia, the UK, and worldwide. Contact us with your specifications—diameter, length, TEK point, coating, RAL color code, and annual volume—and we will prepare tiered pricing that beats distributor markup.

Q13

Q: Can I get white roofing screws with a black EPDM washer instead of a white one?

A: Yes, our standard washers are black EPDM rubber, which provides the same sealing performance at a more cost-effective price. For projects requiring a fully white aesthetic, we can supply white EPDM washers on custom factory orders.

Q14

Q: What is the shelf life of white roofing screws?

A: Stored in dry, indoor conditions in original packaging, white roofing screws maintain full corrosion protection for several years. The baked polyester and Ruspert coatings are UV-stable and will not degrade significantly in storage. For long-term storage, keep boxes off concrete floors and away from moisture.

Q15

Q: Do you offer sample packs before I place a bulk order?

A: Absolutely. We ship sample boxes of white metal roofing screws in your specified diameter, length, and RAL white shade—run them through your tools, test them on your panels, inspect the color match, washer seating, and coating durability. Quality verification is the only way to buy fasteners with confidence.

Q16

Q: What is the lifespan of Sinsun white  roofing screws?

A: Standard models last 15–20 years; stainless steel versions extend to 30+ years.
