Size
This is the diameter of the nail. The smaller the size number, the thicker the nail's diameter and the stronger it is (for example, an 11-gauge nail is stronger than a 12-gauge nail).
G90 hot-dip galvanizing
The nail is dipped in hot zinc to make a thick layer of zinc. This coating protects against rust and makes the roof last longer.
Key Terms Explained
Ring Nail Bar
n areas with a lot of wind, a spiral nail bar can make pull-out resistance up to 40% stronger than a smooth nail bar.
Type of Nail Head
A big nail head design holds asphalt shingles in place without ripping them.
Matching materials and tools
First, choose nails that work with both your nail gun and the roofing material. Standard roofing nails for asphalt shingles are 1.5 inches long. For thicker underlayment or securing trusses, 2-inch nails are better. Use Sinsun precision coil nails or strip nails in your roofing nail gun to keep the nails from getting stuck. One of the main reasons tiles get blown off by the wind is using nails that are too small or don't match.
Where to put the nails and how to put them in
Put the nails in at an angle to the roofing sheet. The right place to nail is inside the nailing groove that the manufacturer shows on the shingle. Never nail above or below the nailing groove. The nail head should be about 1–2 inches above the sealant line for most shingles. Sinsun's ring nails have a great grip, but they only work well if they are installed correctly.
The right depth for the nail
The nail head should be level with the tile surface, not too deep or sticking out. If you drive your nails too deep, they can tear the tile layers, making them less wind-resistant. Nails that stick out can get caught on the next tile, making it harder to seal. To make sure the nail is flush with the tile surface, set the air pressure on your Sinsun roofing nail gun to between 70 and 120 PSI.
Amount and spacing
Follow the tile maker's instructions for how many nails to use; usually, 4 to 6 nails are used for each tile. Six nails are best for places with a lot of wind. Spread the nails out evenly over the tiles to make sure they stay in place. Using reliable Sinsun nails for a consistent nailing method makes sure that the roof works the same way all the time.
Final check: After putting in a section, carefully lift the edge of the tile to make sure the adhesive strip is holding it in place. Along with properly installed Sinsun nails, this makes a complete, sealed, weatherproof layer of protection.

Special Use
Q: What is the purpose of sealing roof nails, and how do you do it?
A: The goal is to keep water from getting through the nail hole and into the roof deck. You can do this with nails that have a sealant built into the shank or, more often, with nails that have a rubber or plastic washer on them. The washer pushes against the roofing material to make a watertight gasket, which is an important part of Sinsun's sealed nail systems.
Q: What are sheathing nails? Can I use roofing nails to put up roof sheathing?
Q:How many roofing nails do you usually need for each square?
Q: What kind of nails are best for a roof made of tiles?
Q: When should I use nails with rubber washers?
Q: Do galvanized coil nails not rust?
Q: What do people use smooth shank roofing nails for?
Q: Are the same nails okay to use for both the underlayment and the final shingles?
