Product Introduction: What Are Groove Rivets?
They are a kind of blind fastener with continuous annular grooves on their bodies that prevent rotation. This unique structural design distinguishes them from conventional smooth-body rivets and provides superior gripping performance on soft, porous and thin substrates. The product has many common trade names around the world, like grooved rivets, grooved blind rivets, ring groove rivets, serrated body rivets, etc. They are known by European industrial buyers as groove shank pop rivets, and by importers in Oceania and Latin America as grip-groove blind rivets. This mechanical interlock completely addresses typical industry pain points such as fastener rotation, loose connection and low holding force on plastic, wood, composite and thin metal sheets.
We make high-end groove rivets, with fine structure optimisation to create obvious gaps between our products and generic market alternatives. The usual grooved rivets are shallow and irregularly grooved and rapidly wear and lose their grip under short-period vibration. We use precision one-time groove stamping technology to form deep, uniform and sharp annular grooves on every grooved blind rivet. Each batch is subject to rigorous grip strength and anti-rotation testing for consistent performance. As a professional groove rivets factory, we support full size, material and head-type customisation to meet various lightweight assembly and industrial fastening projects worldwide.

Applications of Sinsun Groove Pop RivetsEvery batch of grooved blind rivets undergoes strict anti-rotation and grip fatigue testing before delivery. We control groove depth, spacing and edge smoothness meticulously to balance strong biting force and substrate protection. All raw materials comply with international industrial standards, and surface treatments resist oxidation and abrasion effectively. These refined details help global buyers reduce product failure rates and after-sales maintenance costs greatly.

Groove Rivets vs. Standard Blind Rivets: When to Switch
Here’s a quick comparison to help you decide. Standard blind rivets work fine for metal-to-metal joints where both sides are accessible. But once you’re dealing with soft materials, blind holes, or vibration-prone assemblies, standard rivets start to fail.

Groove Rivets

Blind Rivets
| Feature | Standard Blind Rivet | Sinsun Groove Rivet |
|---|---|---|
| Requires through-hole | Yes | No—works in blind holes [9†L11-L13] |
| Performance in wood/plastic | Poor—cracks or pulls through | Excellent—grooves bite into material [9†L4-L7] |
| Vibration resistance | Moderate | Superior—grooves prevent rotation [9†L22-L24] |
| Pull-out strength | Standard | Enhanced due to mechanical interlock [6†L33-L35] |
| Installation tool | Standard blind rivet gun | Same standard tool—no special equipment needed [10†L23-L24] |
The choice usually comes down to your material and your access. If you’re fastening into wood, plastic, or particleboard—or if you can’t reach the back side of your workpiece—groove rivets are the right answer.
-
Step 1 – Drill the correct hole size and depth
his matters more for grooved rivets than standard ones. The hole must be deep enough to accommodate the full length of the rivet body plus the expanded grooves. As a rule of thumb, drill depth should be slightly longer than the rivet length itself . Use our size chart above for diameter recommendations. A sharp drill bit run at moderate speed gives you a clean, burr-free hole.
-
Step 2: Insert the rivet fully.
Push the rivet into the hole until the head seats flush against the near-side material. No gap. No tilt.
-
Step 3: Set the rivet with your tool.
Use any standard blind rivet gun—manual, pneumatic, or battery-powered. Match your tool’s nosepiece to the rivet diameter. Pull the trigger or squeeze the handles until the mandrel breaks.
-
Step 4 – Inspect the set.
A properly set grooved rivet will have the mandrel broken flush with the rivet head. The grooves on the body should be visibly expanded and embedded into the surrounding material. If you see incomplete expansion or the rivet spins in the hole, your hole size may be too large, or your grip range may be wrong.

1
Q: What are groove rivets used for?
A:They deliver anti-rotation, anti-loose fastening for plastic, wood, composite and thin metal materials.
-
2
Q: How do grooved blind rivets differ from standard pop rivets?
A: Grooved shanks bite into hole walls to stop spinning, while smooth rivets easily loosen under vibration.
-
3
Q: Do groove rivets damage soft substrates?
A:Our precision groove design balances firm grip and material protection with no cracking or tearing.
-
4
Q:What materials do your groove rivets adopt?
A: We provide lightweight aluminum and high-strength steel for different load and scenario needs.
-
5
Q: Are ring groove rivets vibration resistant?
A: Yes. The interlocking groove structure delivers excellent anti-vibration and anti-loose performance.
-
6
Q:What head styles are available for selection?
A: Dome head, countersunk head and large flange head support diverse installation demands.
-
7
Q: Can you customize groove rivet sizes?
A: Our factory customizes non-standard lengths, diameters and groove depths for special projects.
-
8
Q: What scenarios fit full grooved pop rivets best?
A: They work optimally for high-vibration equipment and long-term fixed assembly projects.
-
9
Q:Are aluminum groove rivets suitable for outdoor use?
A: They fit mild outdoor environments; steel variants serve harsh industrial outdoor scenarios better.
-
10
Q: What is the MOQ for bulk groove rivet orders?
A: Standard sizes support low MOQ trial orders and mixed batch wholesale for global partners.
