The Quick Guide to Choosing and InstallingThe environment is as important as nail length.
For penetration, a good rule of thumb is that the nail should penetrate at least 1-1/2 inches into the solid wood underneath. You will need at least a 2" nail to get an effective bite out of 3/4" plywood sheathing.
Choosing a Coating: Electro-galvanized is usually sufficient if you build in Arizona. If you live within 10 miles of saltwater, ask for Hot-Dipped Galvanized. The thick zinc layer will have a rough, matte gray finish.
Compatible with the nailers: Sinsun coils work with coil nailers, such as Hitachi, Senco, and Bostitch. Before ordering, always check the magazine angle of your tool (15 degrees for siding, 34 degrees for other tools).

Galvanized is the most suitable choice for outdoor work. It protects against rust very well and costs less than stainless steel You only need stainless steel for certain types of wood, like cedar or redwood (which reacts to galvanized), or for very harsh marine environments.
Can you use these nails in a coil nailer from Dewalt or Makita?
Yes, for sure. Sinsun's coil roofing nails come with wire and plastic collation which is standard in the industry. This collation works with 90% of the coil nailers on the market. They feed smoothly and don't leave behind much dust from the coating.
How many nails are in a coil strip?
It depends on how long it is. We sell 120 strips of our 1-1/2" nails, and 60 coils of our longer 3-1/4" nails to keep magazines manageable.
Is there a ring Shank option for these nails?
Right now, our standard stock of zinc nails has a smooth shank so they can be fired quickly. We do, however, have ring shank galvanized coil siding nails available for custom bulk orders if you need the most pull-out resistance for hurricane strapping.
Will the galvanized coating on my nail gun tip wear off?
No. Zinc works as a lubricant. It actually causes less wear on the driver blade compared to raw steel or cement-coated nails because it's softer.
Do these rust or stain wood?
No, galvanized coating prevents rust and surface staining.
