Chipboard Screws

The screws are made from stainless steel, either A2-304 or A4-316, which makes them suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and marine applications.In treated boards, they do not rust when exposed to water or chemicals. Because their tensile strength is at least 700 MPa, they remain effective in humid conditions.The screws come with a self-drilling point for MDF and a cutting thread that works best with particleboard.

With an 82° countersunk head, this design is designed for flush or subflush finishes, such as mounting hinges or assembling a frame. The head fits perfectly into pre-drilled countersinks or creates its own in MDF, so it does not get stuck. You can obtain it in sizes ranging from 3.5mm to 5.0mm. This is the most commonly requested head style for general furniture and joinery work.

This head style is similar to countersunk, but it has a flat top surface. It provides the best surface contact for a neat finish. It is often used in situations where the screw head will be visible but needs to be perfectly flat, like in some trim applications. The sharp point and two-thread design make it easy to drive into particleboard and MDF quickly and safely without splitting the top layer.

The pan head provides a slightly domed top with a larger bearing surface. A countersunk hole is not practical when attaching thin metal brackets, hardware, or plastic components to chipboard. A more even distribution of clamping force is achieved by the design. For non-flush fastening tasks in assembly, it's a versatile choice with a Pozi or Torx drive in diameters from 4.0mm.

With a square recess drive, this type transfers more torque and has a lot less driver cam-out than Phillips. In some markets, such as North America, it reduces stripping and bit wear. Sinsun gives them a sharp point and a rough thread for chipboard. Installation is faster and more reliable with this drive, especially in environments with high torques or high production levels.

The black phosphate or epoxy coating on these screws is tough and gives them a clean, low-visibility finish that works well with dark hardware or when a matte look is desired. For indoor use, the coating protects against corrosion to a certain extent (usually for 24 to 48 hours of salt spray). They come in countersunk and pan head styles and are often used in speaker boxes, electronics enclosures, and dark-colored furniture.

The screws' thread profile is aggressive and spaced out like a saw blade, making them ideal for cutting through thick, resinous chipboard and OSB. Compared to regular threads, this design cuts through these materials very quickly, lowering drive torque by up to 20%. It reduces material burnout and makes coarse-particle boards very hard to pull out. This makes them great for building heavy-duty pallets and crates and for structural sheathing.
