Chemical anchors, also known as chemical bolts, adhesive anchors or resin anchors, are high-performance fastening systems that use chemical and resin adhesives to bond threaded rods, bolts and rebar to concrete, masonry and stone. Each unit is a threaded stud, chemical capsule, nut and washer creating a permanent, stress free connection that is stronger than mechanical expansion anchors.
Sinsun chemical anchors are manufactured with high-grade steel and modified epoxy/vinylestester resin to provide a tensile strength 20% above industry standards. Our anchors are highly resistant to vibration, have a low edge distance and are durable in wet, cold or coastal conditions. Our ability to deliver reliable performance and consistent quality, while keeping all production steps under control, makes us better suited for critical projects than generic suppliers.
| Type of Chemical Anchor | Resin Chemistry | Best For | Speed & Cure Characteristics |
| Polyester Chemical Anchor | Unsaturated polyester resin | Light-to-medium loads in solid concrete, brick, stone | Fast curing (5–10 min gel time), general-purpose anchoring |
| Epoxy Acrylate / Vinylester Anchor | Epoxy acrylate / vinylester resin | Medium-to-high loads, cracked concrete, damp holes, chemical exposure | Good balance of strength and cure speed; styrene-free options available |
| Pure Epoxy Anchor (High-Performance) | 100% epoxy resin | Heavy structural loads, post-installed rebar, large annular gaps (diamond-drilled holes), seismic zones | Slowest cure, highest strength, minimal shrinkage, superior chemical resistance |
| Hybrid System Anchor | Epoxy + vinylester / urethane combination | Versatile applications requiring both high strength and moderate cure time | Mid-range speed; works across multiple substrate types |
| Capsule Chemical Anchor | Pre-dosed resin (polyester/epoxy) + quartz aggregate in glass capsule | Fast installation without injection gun; ideal for renovation work and ceiling applications | Simple push-in-and-rotate method; break capsule with anchor rod |
A quick note from our experience: if you are anchoring into cracked concrete or seismic zones, skip polyester and go straight to pure epoxy or vinylester. The upfront cost difference is marginal compared to a failed pull-out test.

Structural Steel Column Base Fixing
- We see this all the time: Concrete foundations require steel columns bolted to them. Mechanical expansion anchors have problems near the edges and crack concrete under heavy vibration. Chemical anchors — in the form of pure epoxy formulations — evenly distribute loads and keep steel columns upright for decades of crane operation and foot traffic. Our client changed from Hilti to Sinsun after reviewing pull-out test reports for a warehouse project in Melbourne. It cost 32% less to build on the same grade 8.8 stud and epoxy resin chemistry, but the land cost was 32% lower. Every anchor was approved by the building inspector.
-

Post-Installed Rebar Connection
- Renovation projects often require new concrete shear walls to existing slabs. Drill into the slab, clean the hole, inject the resin, and embed the rebar. After 24–48 hours the chemical bond is fully loaded Our vinylester injection mortar is ETA-approved for rebar connections in cracked and uncracked concrete. One of the Mumbai metro stations was retrofitted with 800 M20 Sinsun chemical anchors for shear wall connections. All anchors passed random pull-out testing above 45kN.
-

Façade Curtain Wall & Cladding Fixing
- Curtain wall mullions need to tie into building edges where concrete is thin and mechanical anchors cause blowouts. This is because of the zero-expansion stress of the chemical anchors. Combine a stainless steel stud with polyester resin and you get corrosion resistance and reliable pull-out strength, even when located within 50mm of a concrete edge. The Dubai commercial tower uses only Sinsun M10×110 studs for all aluminum cladding attachments. In the past, three other chemical anchor suppliers had been rejected by the site engineer for inconsistent plating thicknesses.Their first batch passed inspection.
-

Bridge Barrier & Highway Safety Rail Installation
- Highway barriers are constantly buffeted by wind and vehicle impact forces. Extension anchors loosen over time. Chemical anchors don’t. For bridges where fatigue resistance is critical, consider using either a hybrid or pure epoxy resin. This past year, the German autobahn maintenance team switched to Sinsun chemical anchors for guardrail posts. As a result of impact testing, our chemical anchor rods failed to strip threads, unlike a competitor's lower-grade material.
-

Heavy Machinery & Industrial Equipment Mounting
- Press brakes, CNC machining centers, injection molding machines -- These big beasts hum constantly while working. Mechanical anchors transfer vibration to the concrete slab, which often cause cracks. Chemical anchors absorb and spread vibration by the resin layer. In Thailand, one Tier 1 automotive supplier uses 2,000 Sinsun M16 chemical anchors per year for stamping press foundations. “We tried three other chemical anchor brands,” their maintenance manager told us. "But yours have the longest hold torque."
-

Drill Hole

What Our Customers Say — Real Feedback from Real Projects
I was hesitant to use chemical anchors from China due to quality issues in the past. Sinsun sent test samples before ordering. We did our own pull-out test — average failure load of 38kN on M12 anchors in M30 concrete. That’s better than the polyester anchors we used before locally. Plus their tech support answered my WhatsApp at 11 PM Indian time.”
“Curtain wall fixings used to be a pain point: late deliveries, wrong plating, mismatched lengths. Samsung's sales team actually reads specs instead of quoting part numbers. They had M10 × 130 hot-dip galvanized chemical anchors with third party coating thickness reports. “We completed the project 12 days ahead of schedule.”
Hot FAQs — Questions We Get Asked Every Week
What is the difference between chemical anchors and mechanical expansion anchors?
A: Chemical anchors bond with adhesive resin — there’s no expansion stress on the base material, so you can anchor close to the edges and in cracked concrete. Mechanical anchors depend upon friction and expansion which may cause substrate cracking.
Do all chemical anchor resins behave the same?
A: No. Quick and cheap but not for structure, polyester. Vinyl ester is a compromise between speed and strength. Pure epoxy provides the highest bond strength and chemical resistance.
How soon can I apply a load after installation?
A: Gel time is 5 to 10 minutes depending on temperature. Full cure can be anywhere from 1 hour to 48 hours. For exact figures, refer to the technical data sheet for your resin.
How do I clean the hole properly?
A: Brush the hole 4 times with a steel brush. Blow compressed air for 4 cycles. Dust kills bond strength – we cannot overstate this.
What‘s the shelf life of chemical anchor cartridges and capsules?
A: Most products have a shelf life of 12-18 months in unopened packaging stored between 5°C and 25°C. Do not freeze. Do not leave in the direct sunlight.
Do I need to have an ETA or CE Certification for my project?
A: ETA certification is usually required for structural applications, seismic zones, and government contracts. NOTE: Always verify local building codes before ordering. We can provide ETA documentation on request.
Can chemical anchors be removed after curing?
A: No. Not easily. Once cured it often has to be removed by coring around the anchor or cutting it flush. Carefully plot your layout.
What is the maximum embedment depth for a chemical anchor?
A: 20x the rod diameter is possible in theory but practical limits for most applications are still 10x to 15x the diameter.
